Yep, people suck and can't remmeber what a proper right turn signal is, so using hte right hand is the best option.
I still signal right on occaision the "proper" way, but I do it will all fingers together and opened, so there is no mistake that it's not a form of "digital" communication
I won't signal for slowing down though. It more often than not confuses drivers into thinking I'm just dangling my arm.
I learned a while back that nothing from Driver's Ed. stays in the driver's head much past 17 years of age. Amusingly, commerical truck drivers seem to be the only ones who know the hand signals.
My other fun one is the "you go" dilemma...where you really don't want to be in front of this driver for whatever reason at an intersection, so you try to get them to pass, but they stop and try to get you to pass....drives me nuts. Especially when they had right of way. I know they are being courteous, and I'm thankful of that, as courteous drivers are rare anymore...but sheesh...I waved you first...go already!
