Bauer Cycle Supply, here in Minneapolis, imported a line of of "Bauer" labeled bikes from Taiwan, IRRC in the '80s. The better ones had pretty decent lugged frames w/butted tubing. My son has a frame that was returned because the rear chainstay derailleur cable stop had been brazed on backwards. He's built it up as a sweet single speed.
Unfortunately, I loaned him a pair of SR North Road bars for it, which he mounted upside down. He likes them so much I can't get them back.
well, I am convienced this is the answer. I live in MPLS where I found the frame.
