Well, several people are already making bamboo bikes and at least one person is making a bamboo MTB. Wood is actually not a bad material. It's light and can be made pretty strong. Afterall, one of the most durable and fast attack planes from WW2 was made of balsa wood. Since bikes use mainly aircraft-quality materials, why not?
