Have to agree with mswantak-- erm, not about his bikes, about which I have no personal knowledge-- you're trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. Ride the hell out of this bike. Take the money you'd spend on upgrades and buy a better bike with it. You can buy a really decent used road bike-- a classic & vintage road bike hint hint-- for a very small amount of money, and then upgrades will make some sense.
