The Kenda hybrid-tread 27" tires are very "basic" in quality, both in terms of threads-per-inch and also in terms of the consistency of the overlap width of the left and right outer sidewall plies. They are cheap tires, but I found that they performed surprisingly well on the street and on dirt trails around here.
My rear tire blew out in the center of the tread, I believe because of irregular/insufficient overlap between the outer plies, this after a couple of months of pretty rough use in rocky terrain. This was at least eight years ago btw, when they sold for $17.
