I could be wrong, but the way I read the OP's post was that this was not an issue with his previous bike. So more of a bike specific problem rather than a general lack of experience.
It seems that he might have had the BMC "for several years". He's not really clear about anything. The OP's words are not really enough to impugn the bike.
