Outside of our Sheldon-enlightened bubble, there are still a lot of riders who think that the front brake is going to send them over the bars, so they rely only on the rear brake for "safety."
I admit that when I was 10 years old I thought it would be cool to remove the front brake from my Walmart full suspension bike. I proceeded to do so. At the same time I kept the kickstand and didn't want to take it off. I cringe whenever I think of it.
