that IS the old Shimano logo. I've never seen a hub like that before. I recently had a hub strip because the threads that the cog went on were too long, so the lockring didn't hit the cog. I had to put a spacer in between the cog and the hub. That seems to have done the trick. I would first inspect all the threads, grease everything, try again, and if that doesn't work, try a different lockring. If you come in to Rapid Transit tomorrow I can try to help you personally (my name is Sam, I have a mohawk that looks more like a mullet). I don't think we have any lockrings in stock, but I can certainly help you determine the problem. It's very difficult to diagnose things without touching them.
