A 60+ cyclist
Please tell us your age.
69 is in the rear view mirror now and I'm looking forward to being 70 years old
1. What type of bikes do 50+ folks ride?
Classic '89 and '87 Klein Quantum, '84 Schwinn Peloton, Moulton AM Esprit and a couple of homemade single-speed racers
2. Do you take any special supplements/vitamins/minerals as you have grown older?
Just a daily multivitamin but also low dose of blood pressure medicine
3. How much do you feel you have "slowed down" if any?
Not that much. It's been gradual. I'm not as flexible tho - had to raise my handlebars
4. How long have you been biking? New, around a while, biked all your life?
All my life - regularly in some way or another since I was five years old.
5. What type of biking do you do? Long rides, touring, short rec rides.
I used to ride a 200k brevet (and the training for it) most every year, but now I just go for sporty fitness rides of 30-50 miles.
6. How often do you bike? Your approximate annual mileage?
I just got back on my bike after a few years of not riding at all. Before my break, I had several 5,000-6,000 mile years, then some easier years of 2,000 miles or so. I usually ride several times a week, all year 'round
