I wanted to chime in and say that this thread was helpful for me. I own a 59 MCD with 700c Wheels fitted with 48c Rene Here Knobby Tires. The bike is a 2x with an Ultergra fd. The fenders I chose, the PDW 55 Full Metal, wouldn't fit the frame with the front derailleur. My solution was to hacksaw the bottom of the fender where it would hit the derailleur. The rear fender is still mounted in three spots and I find this to be a very good solution, as I can fit 48c tires with 90% coverage. Very happy. I also purchased Honjo smooth 62 fenders and decided to not install them because they wouldn't fit with a 2x and I didn't want to destroy a nice set of fenders like that. So from my experience the Black Mountain Cycles MCD can fit a 55mm Portland Design Works Full metal Fenders only if you chop it or run a 1x. You can squeeze in a 48c tire like me but I bet a 42-45 would be a better choice. I'd post pic's but this forum won't allow it because I'm a noob on here
