It must have been awful to ride with that cotter installation induced offset. I have mixed feelings about this bike. It and another Peugeot were donated by the owners daughter after he passed away while riding the bike. I had met him once, but its a very sad time for the family. I have another Peugeot project for a friend to give back to his brother so the parts are welcome.
It’s sort of a specific contractor-type tool, but on one occasion I had to remove cotters from a Peugeot, and my pneumatic palm nailer did an amazing job. It’s sort of like an air-powered punch, and it knocked them right out, and they were undamaged, so they went right back in. Not sure if anyone else has tried one. Probably only appropriate for desperate situations.
