just as one benchmark of the era, I've got this page from a 1990 issue of Bicycle Guide.
It strikes me as more of an "overspray" scheme than splatter, per se, but what do I know?



I never warmed up to this sort of paint, nor to the idea of 650C wheels on large bikes.
