I did some mailing and i allready got some ideas. There are 2 main Peugeot sites at the moment:
1.
http://home.wanadoo.nl/peugeotshow with all the nice scans on it (in Dutch, which is my native language)
2.
http://www.classicrendezvous.com/Fra...ugeot_home.htm which concentrates on the PX10
Respect to both makers but there aint much information about the bikes on it. And you yanks love the px10 but there are more models. Especially the 80s, early 90s bikes with names like Ventoux, aspin, tourmalet, etc arent very common qua info.
I found some other dutch sites and will translate them into my project. My premium goal is to share information. Some examples of other brand sites made by fans are:
Trek:
http://www.vintage-trek.com (I'm allready in though with Skip)
Ralleigh:
http://www.retroraleighs.com (sheldons site)
Gitane:
http://www.gitaneusa.com
Motobecane: they are working on it in another topic in this forumsection
For a good site is needed:
1. motivation
2. skills
3. knowledge of subject
4. cooperation with community
5. interaction
6. time
Motivation is no problem. Skills either, I'm almost graduated student Multimedia & Design. Knowledge is not optimal. I love France and its products (Citroen, Peugeot, etc) but I'm not a walking encyclopedea like others here. This is where point 4 comes in. But there is also a huge amount of info on this forums and on the net. It only has to be collected.
For interaction i was thinking of a news submit and a forum. Not to compete with forums like this but than info gets centralized.
The time factor is ok. I'm student and I can always make time. But to speed up things I'm gonna choose for a CMS (content management system). More particular: Joomla (formerly known as Mambo). This is a nice CMS and i can get it up in 15 minutes. Nice template and there we go.
Last thing.. a domain... I think i'm gonna start of with a free domain (man the popupkiller stations) and perhaps later on to something nice like
www.retropeugeot.com or
www.peugeotbikes.com (bastards! they got this one allready hehe)
oh and before i forget. 'Pug' is your American slang for Peugeot right?
..and I hope some of you will correct my English on the site to be
