As for the Caledonia... To quote Cervelo

Caledonia doesn’t fit in a box nicely, and we like it that way. It was conceived on our Thursday night rides—routes that often play fast and loose with ‘road ride.’ As we tried to stuff bigger tires into our R5s and streamline our Asperos, a new kind of bike was born."
I want a bike that fits neatly in to the
Road Bike box!
I don't want space for bigger tires.
I don't want a best of both worlds.
I just want a road bike that just wants to be a road bike.
I'll pay the Cervelo premium for an R3, even though the R3 is above my abilities, I like nice tools.
The R5 is twice the price, and that forces NBD out... way out!
Now if they made an R5 in Fluoro Yellow, I might have to sell my kids.

The Caledonia has almost the exact same geometry as the R3, so I’m not quite sure what the issue is.
But if you’re dying for an R3, I’ll sell you mine for 4K
