My first ride of the year was the local club's New Years Day ride. I decided to skip the potential "superspreader" large group start and meet them on the way to the halfway rest stop. I was lucky to join the route just ahead of the first bunch of about 10 fast young guys, and my regular ride buddies were in the second small group. We reached the park turnaround in the first few dozen riders, so we were able to grab our coffees and pastries and avoid the crowd before most of the 150+ riders arrived.
Not many C & V bikes. My Nishiki Altron, Mike's Motobecane Team Champion that he's had since it was new, and Tom's DeRosa.
