The question is not one of was BM a valid member of the team or was he a disappointment. Again, the issue at hand was BM's commitment, behavior, and his acceptance of responsibility for his performance. In all three instances, IMO BM fell short.

In retrospect, would it have been possible for BM to come out a be repentent? To make a statement saying that he was disappointed in his performance, or that he wished he had done better? No, there is no way that his image handlers would let this happen. Put yourself in BM's shoes? How do you think he really felt? If you have competed in any sport and fallen short, don't you go through your performance over and over and look for what could have been? In a sentance, Mr. Miller competed against the best in the world, an in this instance, was found wanting. He should suck it up, look straight at the world and admit in his own style, "I sucked at the Olympics, but I will be back!" If he would have done that I might be a BM fan today.
