Crabon hardtail 26er riding is the only proper cycling. It was a perfect day in the desert. A little overcast at first, even felt a raindrop as I was loading up minivan #1, then sun started shining on me for the last 20 minutes of the ride.
I wouldn't go so far as to call it the "only" proper cycling, but I agree with your love for a 26" carbon HT. That said, you have far more gears than you really need.
