"Someone down-graded this to stem shifting which may explain the price. Judging from the rear tire, it's a sat a looong time and probably needs all grease replaced, etc.

For what it is worth, I sold a mid 1980s Trek 520 once, with nice Suntour Barcons. The buyer asked me if I could replace the shifters with something easier to risk and said she would gladly pay me to do it. I installed a nice stem shifter set up, no charge. She was thrilled!

A lot of younger riders are intimidated by having to reach down to shift, whether its barcons or down tube shifters. I've kept a bin of stem shifters for just such situations.
