We have a piggy-back company at the end of our neighborhood. They use a big lift to put trailers onto flatbed, railroad cars. They are daily blocking the road for 15 to 50 minutes at a time.
I climb over the train on a regular basis. It's not the safest thing to do, but I do take one precaution. I won't climb through, over a coupler. If there is no ladder & platform at the end of the car or room to get across the flatbed, I'll wait the train out.
The car was kinda weird. I was holding on to the outside of the ladder and used the coupler as leverage a bit to hold my balance.
I've seen trains stop there before (while in a car) in the morning, and the same train is there when i pass by later that evening. It's a warehouse/factory part of town, not like it's blocking a major intersection.
If it did start moving, it would have been going about 1 mph. Not all that unsafe to jump off. But ya, i did not want to be touching any moving parts just incase.
