Wrapping up JAN 2022, I commuted 18 days on my 20" folding bike, totaling approx. 140 miles.
The slush & snow doesn't really bother me, it's the unpredictable ice that form among the slush... tires tend to loose traction and slip out from under me.
When I ride among motor vehicle traffic, I tend to avoid stopping behind any vehicle, just filter though to the front of the intersection, ride on opposite side of traffic if need to, just so motorist sees me while I'm moving. While stopped they tend to miss me among other traffic and more likely to get hit.
Most streets I ride on Brooklyn do not have designated bike lanes, filtering among traffic when flow is below 15 mph is pretty common practice with bicycle deliveries since they can capable to filter though easily.
I adopt their riding strategy with my regular folding bike, smaller target to get hit.
Since my top speed is rarely above 15-18 mph, the filtering and traffic law breaking tend to get overlooked by LEO.
