They have a recess for an SPD cleat, so even with my cleats installed I can still ride the old pedals with those same shoes. I'm sure there are similar shoes out there.
I have a pair of these— they look great, laces, nice colour, stiff sole, comfy to walk in, reasonably priced. However, the toe box is far too big for me. I can use them with plain pedals, but they are too wide for clips and straps. Even if I use wider pedals and giant clips, they rub against my crank arms. I realize this is specific to me and my geometry, but it’s very disappointing.
I just need to borrow
merziac ’s example and convert one of my stiff soled Italian fit dress shoes— thin and narrow. Those always fit my feet like a glove.
