Kind of depends on the tire. Knobby MTB tire, you can only wear the paint off the top of the knobs. Slick tires, you could find some rough pavement and do an interval session -- that should get it off everything but the sidewalls.
Just have some diesel lying around and want to get rid of it? Pour it down a yellow jacket nest to kill them, maybe, or use it as charcoal lighter?
