This was helpful. It at least confirms that the wheels are pre2012 because Zipp stopped making the silver shells in 2012. But I am thinking now that the 11 in the serial number etched in the shell (188 11 172 0256) for model year 2011, not 11 speed. This is because the guy who gave me the wheels told me he had a hub failure and Zipp rebuilt the wheels under warranty in 2011. The front hub serial number begins 088 08, so I am wondering if the wheels were originally 2008 and then a new rear hub was added in 2011. What is confusing me is that the guy swears they are shimano/sram 11 speed, which is possible since Dura Ace 11 speed came out in 2010, but I can’t find anything indicating Zipp made 11 speed freehub bodies for shimano before 2013. I don't want to buy 11 speed casette for the wheels if I cant confirm its an 11 speed freehub. It doesn't appear that 10 speed version of Zipp 188 hub would be convertible to 11.
