I think the baby boomers who bought them back in the 70s and 80s are starting to age out of cycling, especially if one of the partners has health issues or has just lost interest. After it's hung on the hooks in the garage for 20+ years and you're downsizing, eventually you just want to get rid of it.
Yep and that one has a nice full set of TA cranks and Mafac cantis that are worth the ask but still too much. I had a couple of tandems given to me that have a bunch of good stuff on them so was ok.

Also picked up an unknown custom builder one with full TA, good wheels and most all other parts for $120 awhile back so I'm set considering I will probably be unable to get Ms. merziac on one, ever.
