What you're locking up is transportation - your way home - not a financial investment. Transportation is what someone else might want to steal.

We had a Huffy stolen from the bike co-op, when a carbon frame was left hanging. Some people laughed at the stupidity, but they misunderstood. Someone stole a ride.
