after my 2nd 4 runner was stolen I took similar measures. the 1st one that was stolen, was new. the insurance money helped me buy a used one. it was older & a little rough but it was mime & I wanted to keep it. never got the 1st one back. but after I got the 2nd one back:

- remove ignition fuse under dash
- remove ignition coil wire from under the hood
- steering wheel lock

sure someone could have towed it, but no one was jumping in & driving it away
