I have two friends who have had hernia surgeries within the last two years. I don't know if they underwent the same procedures as yours, but both of them were able to fully resume cycling at their previous level once they recovered. I think both were off the bike for approximately three weeks. Neither has had a recurrence, as far as I know.
I would think your doctor would be able to address your case more accurately than the public.
