I'm sure we are all abnormal in one way or another. I've often said that all families are dysfunctional; it's just a matter of degree.
Marriage, mortgage, career, kids, debt. I got married at 38. None of the rest. I didn't even manage to graduate college.
I can assure you I would not have been a suburban dad. Likely a small aircraft mechanic. I was on my way to Guatemala for my annual winter trip when I met my wife. The following Spring I planned to head to Alaska to look for work. I had the licenses.
