For better or worse, I ordered one of these: KMC X8.99/X8 Bicycle Chain (1/2 x 3/32-Inch, 116L, Silver). Perhaps I should order a different one, of some other type, in case this one just rots.
I was thinking that if the chain is too flexible, you'd have to over-shift more (over-compensate for that flexibility) and then correct the chain line after the shift is made. <--- this is bad.

...they work fine on all my stuff, and I have plenty of bikes set up with Campagnolo NR cranks and derailleurs. KMC sells a good product at bargain prices. Those other guys, not so much.The biggest improvement you can make on Campy NR shifting, is to throw away those stupid stainless steel coil wound cable housings, and just go with a normal cable housing in the back.
If you want the most instantaneous shifting with NR, use indexed Housing on the rear derailleur, but it's less bendy than than regular housing, so you might have to use a longer curve.
