It should be usable for hiking, but inconvenient. It has MTB trails but might not have hiking trails that don't allow bikes. It will sync your hikes as rides. A lot of its features aren't really relevant to hiking and neither is the form factor. If none of that is a show stopper it'll work, you can use a chest strap for HR, the map is more useful than not having one and it has a barometer. As [MENTION=344778]Badger6[/MENTION] mentioned, a watch like the excellent Fenix is much more suited to hiking, as is the Instinct for much less $$.

I hiked Teanaway Ridge today. I use multiband for hiking and regular GPS for everything else. Absolutely flawless track, even under thick tree cover.
