It cannot be proved that it was my fault! May have been the previous owner! I never looked until I put it on a new bike! haha

Regardless, to bring this post full circle in case someone down the line with the same stem wants to replace or bling it up a little bit, I ended up buying the SimWorks top cap because it was a little cheaper shipped. It works, but I had to use a Nitto stem bolt that was in the parts bin. No issues otherwise!




Note: I am NOT the person who did that to the headset top nut!
