I’m wondering if any of the folks who attempted this could share what they used and the results?

I just acquired a 1984 Trek 500 in pewter. It has a nice long (now a bit rusty) scrape through the paint on the top tube from being locked up against things presumably, which I’d love to diminish the ugliness of.
