It really depends on where you are, and what the risk factors are.
I like to lock my bike so I snag a piece of frame, one wheel, and the bike rack with my good U-Lock. I think it is rare that thieves just snag a single wheel (which they can't ride away). But, I wouldn't worry too much about losing a $125 wheel either.
In a higher risk area, you could use two U-Locks, or a U-Lock plus a cable.
Get the wheels if you think you'll like them, and don't overly worry whether someone else will like them too.
