I'll try to keep this brief and articulate....(ahem)
I'm doing my senior design project (for my Mech. Engineering degree, hopefully) on designing a shifter for a continuously variable transmission (basically infinitely adjustable gearing) for a bicycle and am trying to determine whether to go with lever-style or twist-style shifters. Normal shifters are either indexed, or rely on friction to resist the springs in the derailleurs. I'm looking for something with the adjustability of friction shifters but the stability of indexed shifters. If you have a minute, are bored, and/or want to help out a bike lover on his project for school, please take this 5-question (point and click) survey on your opinions on shifters.
