Masi GC reboot and a question

Not too long ago I had my attention drawn to an eBay listing for a modern reboot (Haro made after they bought the marque) of the Masi Gran Criterium. Seems to be generally a fairly faithful reproduction of the frameset. Other than some braze on differences, crimps in the chainstays being the only clear difference I could see. The ebay listing drew my attention as the seller pointed out the recessed brake fork and nutted rear brake on the frame. That is a feature of my 1980(ish) GC that has baffled me. Looking at the one on the website, also appears to be the case. Does anyone know if this was a “thing” BITD with Masi?

At any rate, cool to see some of these big swingers make a nod towards the old classics.
