Did you buy them at a bike shop? If so, they should let you try them on a demo bike (or your bike) on a trainer in the store before you purchase.
+1 on this one. I have done enough business with my LBS to where they do not mind bringing an item in, allow me to test it out on my own bike on a trainer, and either buy/don't buy it. This may not be possible in your case, but there is no harm in asking I would think.
