No. If you said, "OLH is a 3 mile climb," I'd assume that it's a climb over the course of 3 miles, but if you were to say, "OLH is 3 miles of climbing," I would assume that you don't know what you're talking about because there aren't any ascents that yuge.
Except you already admitted you interpreted 2.5 miles of climbing as distance, not altitude gain.
