When I originally got the lotus from my wife's uncle I had planned to turn it into a fixed gear machine, but once I cleaned a few things up I realized how pristine the bike was. It would have been a shame to chop it up.

OK. All my debate about whether to maybe sell the thing, or chop it up...this was before I really rode it! Oh, man! 25-year-old friction shifters just put my Specialized hybrid's indexed grip-shifters to shame. And the speed? So it stays in the family for sure. Question for you Tozovr: are your hoods disintegrating? Mine did. Any idea where I can get replacements? And though there are eyelets near the dropouts, there are no braze ons on the seat stays. How can I add a rack? And do you think there's room for fenders?
I tell you, it's a whole new world. After a winter's commuting on the Specialized...it's a minivan, basically. And this...well, it's not a Ferrari, exactly. But it's a '78 Volkswagen Scirocco with standard shift and no power steering....
