I had a Trek 930 that had cantis with enough adjustment to take a 650b wheel. I think it's just one of those cases where you get lucky. And who knows, the pad angle might be wonky too.

edit: Ope. just looked at the pics, pad angle is funky. It wasn't on my Trek, I should have kept that bike...
