The flats are wide enough to use any pin. The holes in the crank arms determine which size pin you need and which diameter axle you need. If you have french cranks the axle hole is nominally .610 and english axles are .625, but sometime an english axle will go into a french crank.
Yeah I put an english(Raleigh) spindle in and it works if I use a Raleigh crank and pins, but if I use the Nervar the Uo-8 came with, the original pins go dang near all the way through the crank because the area on the Raleigh spindle are ground a little deeper. And of course english pins won’t fit a French crank.
