It was a different animal than the Cherokee. In the 70s there was a big Cherokee the same body as the Grand Wagoneer except it was a 2 door.
The thing I had was lifted and on 33 inch tires. With 2.74 gears it could cruise 65mph in second gear. Gas mileage was abysmal but people will get out of your way. I used it like a truck and did some 4 wheelin' with it. We used it to get our Christmas trees in the mountains. Just buy a $2 permit and cut any tree with a blue marker. Also used it to fetch firewood.
