No. With the star ratchet system, especially the "many" engagement type, you need to strictly adhere to the manufacturer recommended amount and type of lube, or it might slip and destroy the ratchet, and possibly cause you to crash. In that sense its akin to a "one pawl" system, because there is no backup. I an ordinary three pawl system one pawl can stick without the engagement failing.
