I apologize that I don't remember the source, but I've seen a discussion here that said that nlerner's style (with deformation parallel to the length of the stay) is less failure-prone than robobike's (perpendicular to the length of the stay). Which is disappointing because it somehow seems less elegant to me. But not breaking is more important...
