I presume his hosting provider offlines his email/DNS services when the website is down, so he doesn't get those messages.
I had no luck reaching anyone, the one person I managed to reach, she must've thought I was a scammer or something, the conversation was one-sided and lasted all of 10 seconds before abrupt ending.
I really didn't want to contact any of his old research colleagues, or business contacts. I stuck with trying to reach him or a family member.
