I remember seeing that commercial, too, Pete. In fact, I thought somewhat different thing about it. Why does the guy have to take pain killers to get up the advanced trail??? That's lame. When I was doing my training runs, I would take advil, but most of the time it was when I was hurting. To be quite honest, I don't think it really helped all that much.
My son did mention to me that the "advanced" trail in the commercial didn't look so hard, too, btw.
I'm all for killing pain, when it's needed, but sometimes I think we tend to reach for pain killers as a solution too often, rather than utilize better forms of reducing pain, like seeing the chiro or physical therapy (ultrasound works) to help a muscle spasm or back pain. That's not to say drugs do come in handy when it's really needed.
Besides, what ever happened to takin' a swig of whiskey, and bitin' the bullet???
