Only been to the Vatican a handful of time and do not remember bikes anywhere on the property.
The only time I have had stuff stolen was in europe. A bike once. Some camping gear. A camera. Three times a criminal tried to rob me by knifepoint. Theft seems somewhat more confined to socialist countries and blue state urban centers.
