A. Carry the jack with you on rides for reinstallation A VAR tool is pretty slim and easily fits in a jersey pocket. Just to get a bead though off a rim, using a standard lever should work just fine to pry over the rim's edge.
B. Hope that once installed and inflated for a while, the tire has stretched a bit from when it was new
C. May be helped in that to remove a tube to replace, you can do this by only taking the tire off one of the rims and not completely removing -- though it could be harder to find and remove a small item that cause the flat.

All that said.. practice at home first :-)
