you'll be astonished at the inequity. The men would breed their wives until they died in childbirth, maybe after 6 or 8, then remarry and breed again. Not unusual to see men widowed three times with kids by each poor wife. Turn back the clock to the good old days? Nah.
And of course, out of 6-8 births only 2-4 survived to reach adulthood anyway.
