I keep my lube in a tightly closed plastic bottle. I keep up to 8 ounces in a closed plastic applicator bottle. When I lube my chain I place the applicator bottle in a container of hot tap water and wait for it to change from a mush to a liquid. My applicator has a pin hole sized opening so I can put a drop onto each roller. I don't see any big safety problem with this technique. There's no large quantity heated or any large surface area exposed, like there is when hot wax dipping.
I use gear lube as an additive since it has extreme pressure additives that might improve chain life and it seems to soften the wax. I mix the oil into melted paraffin before adding it to the naphtha.
I use Crown brand camp stove fuel from Wal-Mart. It was half the price of Coleman fuel a couple of years ago. I use it for all of my decreasing needs.
What you're contending is that anyone using camp stove fuel in a camp stove on a hot summer's day is taking a big risk.
