I am in the camp that believes a comfortable saddle needs to start with sit bone width - whether one sits mostly upright or rides in a more aero position. When one gets that determined then the amount of padding, shape for thighs to avoid chafing when pedaling, cutouts/split rail and other factors may confuse the saddle decision.
using the info from Specialized to determine their best saddle for my bottom, based on sit bone width = indicated their narrowest. I did not buy, but that model did come closest in design appearance to my most preferred saddles.
